HwangSoGa - Korea Town Manila
About This Spot
Stepping into HwangSoGa feels like settling into an inviting corner of Korea right in the heart of Manila’s bustling Ermita district. The space breathes a quiet kind of comfort—tidy and thoughtfully arranged, where the hum of conversation mingles with the gentle sizzle of meat on the grill without overwhelming the senses. Despite the undeniable buzz of a popular Korean barbecue spot, there’s an airy calm that sets it apart from the smoky haze common to its kind.
The rhythm here is easygoing yet attentive. Servers move with a genuine warmth, quietly refilling side dishes or responding to little requests with care, making guests feel seen in the flow of the shared dining experience. It’s a place where unhurried meals stretch into conversations, wrapped in the subtle aroma of grilled beef and pork, paired with flavorful bites that refresh the palate between turns at the grill.
At the core of the experience is a celebration of simplicity and quality. The selection of meats—whether unseasoned or warmly spiced—invites diners to take part in a kind of communal ritual, thoughtful and familiar. Each table becomes a small stage of shared moments, each bite complemented by crisp lettuce, varied pickles, and a comforting seaweed soup that rounds out the meal.
HwangSoGa’s atmosphere, while straightforward and unpretentious, holds a quiet charm for those who appreciate honest flavors paired with attentive, friendly service. It’s the sort of place where you can focus less on formality and more on the small joys of dining together—a casual local spot where the shared buzz of the grill pulses at the center of a warm, inviting gathering.

The venue is tidy and spacious, lacking a smoke extractor yet remains free of cooking odors. Utensils are well-arranged and impeccably cleaned. The food is presented buffet-style for side dishes. The staffs are courteous and attentive, promptly replenishing dishes, including soup. They accommodate requests, such as providing a smaller serving of bulgogi upon my request to avoid leftovers and potential penalties. The variety of side dishes ranges from salty to sweet, with the savory ones leaning towards saltiness. Despite the frozen meat, it cooks easily – perhaps they should reduce salt usage in side dishes. The inclusive juice at 599 pesos and rice options, both plain and fried, add value. The billing process is straightforward, making the overall experience worth trying.

Superb selection and quality for only 499! 5 types of meat (plain beef, Beef bulgogi, plain pork belly, pork bulgogi and spicy pork) spicy pork was the best for me! Apart from the bbq you get a wide variety of cooked food kimchi and other pickled spicy veggies and lots more. Definitely a favourite spot

Located on Adriatico Street besides makchang is Let's Meat Together which used to be called hwangso go, a Korean samgyupsal restaurant that serves unlimited eat-all-you-can barbeque. They only have a single price which is ₱599/person. You'll get beef, pork and chicken which you'll have to cook on your table. There's no parking here.

One of the attractions to this unli samgyupsal place is the fast, attentive and engaging serving staff. the banchans are more than 20 and are super. three types of rice... everything is so yummy. they even have soup with noodles and other condiments. .. the meats are of good quality. for the price?!. so. worth it. and its just infront of Robinsons Place Ermita.
